Get out from behind the desk. Do some traveling and get in front of the camera. Don’t rely completely on social media to make your website and web presence known. Video optimization is the key.
In my travels around New York City, I have met many people from many countries or in other words, tourists, who are looking for neat things to do while in NY. Going to Times Square, Penn Station, Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge are cool if you have never been there but I like to send people to places that are equally cool but that not of people visit to give them a different perspective. DUMBO or Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass is a vibrant and up and coming neighborhood on the Brooklyn side of the Brookly and Manhattan Bridge. First, how do you get there: You can take the A/C to the High Street Station and walk down to the waterfront or you can take the F train York Street and walk down to the waterfront from there.
What is there to see? Well, there are some pretty cool restaurants, Fulton Ferry Landing Park (where this video was shot), fantastic views of the East River, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, South Street Seaport and the overall Manhattan Skyline. New York City’s tourism industry is robust and it is a great city to visit and there is alot to do – 24 hours and day/7 days a week. Also, in the DUMBO neighborhood is Patsy Grimaldis pizza restaurant, which is a must visit for some of the best pizza in New York City. Taking walking tours in and around New York City and promoting NYC tourism, New York City restaurants and neighborhoods such as DUMBO through the use of seo, sem, video and search engine optimization, is again, a very unique, cool and fun way to do online marketing.

This past Sunday, which was a lazy afternoon, I went do to Lower Manhattan in New York and stood at intersection of Broad and Wall Streets, the location of the mecca of capitalism and arguably the business pulse of the world-the New York Stock Exchange. Just across from this New York business icon, is Federal Hall, which was one of the first meeting places for the seat of government in the United States and which is maintained by the US Dept of the Interior.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is one of the backbones of New York business and boasts the Dow Jones Industrial Average, that is, the top companies in the NYSE, whose daily stock movement is a barometer of how stocks may trade for a particular day or session. There is a saying that “when New York City sneezes, the rest of the country catches pneumonia”, which is true as was shown immediately after the events on 9/11. New York receives a large portion of its tax payments from businesses on Wall Street, the employees who work there, eat there and play there, the bonuses and the capital gains taxes. Visiting the New York Stock Exchange, as a tourist or travel destination and followed up by a visit to Federal Hall is a cool way to spend a weekday, especially if you are first time visitor to New York City and would like to see New York business in action.
Additionally, New York is a capital of small business as well and for more information on how to form a small business, you may visit the website of www.businessknowhow.com which features New York business start up information as well as information for all states in the US. They provide help with labor law posters, wage and tax information and OSHA information as well. Those who would like to visit this mainstay location of New York business can take the J train to the last stop, which is Broad St but only Monday thru Friday. On weekends, the J train terminates at Brooklyn Bridge, where you may catch the 4 train to Wall Street and walk a block to Broad and Wall Streets.
This a part of the continuing discussion of New York SEO and how using well known location, in this case an icon of New York business and with search engine optimization and marketing being discussed while physically being at these locations and on video, enhances the SEO process through the use of video optimization.
Here is video of Dallas Plummer talking about New York business outside the New York Stock Exchange and directly across from Federal Hall in Lower Manhattan. One note: In the video, I state that the Federal Reserve bank is a few blocks in the direction towards Water Street. It is actually in the opposite direction up and 2 blocks away, across from Chase Manhattan Plaza.
I sauntered down to New York Penn Station one day because it is one of the busiest rail travel hubs in the country, with Amtrak, the LIRR and NJ Transit operating there. It is also a landmark and a tourist and as well as travel destination. Amtrak has in its infinite wisdom instituted a “quiet car” on most of its trains, that is, if you sit in this car, you cannot have cell phone conversations, music or even loud or disturbing conversations with your fellow passengers. I applaud Amtrak for this as it is new, customer friendly and it just makes sense.
I continually speak about search engine optimization in New York or New York SEO for short by using video to talk about New York City tourist or landmarks and using this as your office space while having a discussion about New York SEO and search engine marketing. The discussion has been amped or ramped up to include New York City tourist and travel information and because Amtrak has this “quiet car” feature, I recommend going to amtrak.com and signing up for their guest rewards programs, which have some great deals. Watch for the next New York SEO and travel video of Dallas Plummer coming soon.

In our continuing discussion about New York City landmarks, we took a stroll to the “last bastion of civilization in New York City” which is Central Park. On any given day, you can find something to do in Central Park be it bird watching, people watching, horse watching or just sitting down and having a picnic. Central Park boasts some of the best trails for bike riding, jogging and leisurely hiking. One of the unknown gems of Central Park is that there is a boat house, where you can rent a row boat for hours and row around the lake in Central Park.
If you simply walk in and around the park, you can find museums such as the Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, grab a hot pretzel, hot dog or throw a blanket and take a nap. Most major subway lines and buses go near or stop right at Central Park on the east and west side of Manhattan. Oh, for those of you who don’t know what dictates or separates the east side from the west side of Manhattan–it is 5th Avenue. We shot this video of Dallas Plummer on 6th Avenue or Avenue of the Americas near Carnegie Hall and the Plaza Hotel. To find out a wealth of information about Central Park in New York, visit the website, www.centralparknyc.org Using Central Park as his office, Dallas Plummer discusses using landmark locations in and around a major urban area and making the site relevant to his discussion, which in this case is search engine optimization, video optimization and search engine marketing.
This discussion on speak in generalized terms about SEO and SEM and video optimization is not the save-all for SEO but is simply another tool in the arsenal of search engine and digital marketing.
